Clip cost = plan price ÷ credits it includes × credits one 10-second clip takes, on each tool's cheapest paid plan. When OpenShorts is the better pick
Developers and podcasters who want a long-to-short clipper they can run on their own machine for free, or a cheap hosted plan billed by the minute of source video. Being open source and self-hostable is something no other tool here offers.
When ReelMint is
When the video is a means to a post, and when the budget is small. $9.99 a month buys about 13 ten-second clips with every AI model open to you; ReelMint prices each render before you click, lets you pick the model per job, and then publishes to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X from the same screen, or hands the whole loop to a bot that posts every day. When you want nothing in the way at all, Private Studio is $999 a month for 110,000 credits and a studio of your own.

Questions
OpenShorts or ReelMint?
OpenShorts if you have long videos to cut into Shorts and like the option of self-hosting. ReelMint if you need new video made from a prompt, a picture or a character, on the model you choose, and then posted or scheduled to five networks from the same screen.
How much does OpenShorts cost?
On its pricing page (read 3 November 2026): self-hosted is free; Cloud is free for 20 minutes a month with a watermark, then Starter $12 (100 minutes), Creator $29 (300 minutes) and Pro $59 (750 minutes) a month, about 17% less billed yearly.
Does ReelMint cut long videos into clips?
No. ReelMint generates new clips and films and publishes them; its Video Edit trims, stitches and adds audio, but it does not find the highlights in a podcast. For that, a clipper like OpenShorts is the right tool.
What is the cheapest way to start on ReelMint?
Lite: $9.99 a month for 800 credits, billed monthly, with every AI model available (Seedance 2.5, Kling 3.0, Wan 3.0, Veo 3.1 and the rest), and the price of every render shown on the button before you click. 800 credits is about 13 ten-second clips at default rates, and publishing to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and X is included. Starter ($29 for 2,600 credits) lowers the per-credit price when you make more.
What is the Private Studio plan?
The plan with no restrictions: $999 a month (or $9,990 a year) for 110,000 credits a month, up to 10 creations at a time, on every Wan and Seedream model, inside a private ReelMint studio of your own that is linked to your reel-mint.com account and spends its credits. It is for teams and creators who generate all day and want nothing in the way; the full description is on the Private Studio page.
