How to Use ReelMint From ChatGPT or Any MCP Client: Endpoint, Token and 60+ Tools
Connect ReelMint to ChatGPT, Claude.ai or any MCP client: one endpoint, one bearer token and 60+ tools for videos, bots, photo films and ads.
To use ReelMint from ChatGPT or any other MCP client, generate an MCP token in your ReelMint account, then add ReelMint as a remote MCP server in the client with the endpoint URL and an Authorization: Bearer header carrying that token. We build ReelMint, and the same studio you use in the browser (videos, images, multi-scene films, bots that post on a schedule, photo films and video ads) is exposed over the Model Context Protocol as more than 60 tools.
We already wrote up the Claude Code setup, which is a single terminal command. This post is for everyone else: ChatGPT, the Claude apps, and any MCP client you configure by hand.
What you need
- A ReelMint account. Generating spends credits, so a plan is needed to make anything; plans start at Lite, $9.99 a month for 800 credits, and every plan runs every model.
- An MCP client that can add a remote server over streamable HTTP and send a custom request header. That second part is the one to check: the ReelMint endpoint authenticates with a bearer token in a fixed header, and it has no OAuth sign-in flow.
Step 1: Generate a token
In ReelMint, open Settings, then MCP access, and press Generate. The page shows three things: the token, its expiry date and the endpoint URL. The token is shown once, so copy it immediately. It is valid for 90 days. "Revoke all" on the same page cancels every MCP token on the account at once; after that you generate a fresh one and paste it into the clients you still use.
The token only works against the MCP endpoint. It is refused by the rest of ReelMint's API, so a leaked token cannot be replayed against your account settings or billing.
Step 2: Add the server to your client
Claude.ai (web, desktop and the phone apps): Customize, then Connectors, then Add, then Add custom connector. Name it ReelMint, paste the endpoint as the URL, set Authentication to "No sign in", and add one request header named Authorization with the value Bearer followed by your token.
ChatGPT and other clients: find the place where the client lets you add a custom MCP server or connector, and enter the same two things: the endpoint URL as a streamable HTTP server, and the Authorization: Bearer <token> header. Client settings screens change often, so we describe the requirement rather than the buttons. If your client only offers an OAuth sign-in for custom servers and no way to set a header, it cannot connect to ReelMint today.
The server speaks both the older handshake-based MCP versions and the newer one, and answers whichever your client opens with. It is stateless, so there is no session to keep alive.
Step 3: Ask for something
Once connected, talk to the assistant the way you would brief a person. A few requests that map directly to tools:
- "Show me the video models with prices, then make a 10-second vertical clip of a lighthouse at dusk on the cheapest one."
- "Plan a 40-second film in four scenes about a fox in the snow and quote it before you start."
- "Turn these twelve photos from our trip into a film."
- "Make a 15-second video ad from our website."
- "Set up a bot that posts a 20-second cooking tip to my TikTok every day at 7 PM, and tell me the monthly cost first."
The tools, grouped
- Studio: list the models with their options and prices, quote a job with the same estimator the Generate button uses, sharpen a prompt, plan scenes, create a job, check it, assemble a multi-scene film, retry or cancel, and list your library.
- Characters: create a character, render its look and cast it in later jobs so the face stays the same.
- Bots: list your connected destinations, quote a bot, create, update, pause and resume it, run it once now and list its runs.
- Mint Moments: list the moods, upload photos in order, quote and create the film, and check its progress.
- Mint Ads: read a website, quote an ad, create it and redesign it.
- Mint Live and Mint Stage: check live access and prices, prepare a character, start, steer and end a live session, or run a show that airs day after day.
- Posts: withdraw a published post from X, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. TikTok has no delete API, so a TikTok copy has to be removed by hand in the app.
Same prices, same limits, same bill
An MCP client is held to exactly what the browser is: the same prices, the same plan limits and the same credit holds. Read-only tools such as listing models or quoting a bot spend nothing. Tools that create something spend real credits, and the server's own instructions tell the assistant to confirm the model and length with you before it calls one. For bots, the assistant is told to say the monthly figure out loud before saving, because a daily bot is one render times thirty a month.
If something fails, the reason comes back to the assistant as a readable message, not a protocol error. "Not enough credits" reaches the model, so it can tell you instead of retrying into the same wall.
Honest caveats
- Generation takes minutes. A job returns an id immediately; the assistant polls it. A Mint Moments film takes 10 to 25 minutes.
- Bots keep spending after the chat ends. That is their purpose. Ask for the bot to be saved paused if you want to review the first run, and see the autopilot page for how the schedule works.
- Demo accounts cannot mint tokens. A shared demo session is read-only.
- Photos have a size limit. Each uploaded photo must be under 8 MB; about 1,600 pixels on the long edge is plenty for a film.
Does ReelMint work with ChatGPT?
ReelMint is a standard MCP server over streamable HTTP. Any client that can add a remote MCP server and send an Authorization: Bearer header can use it, ChatGPT included where its settings allow a custom server with a header.
How long does an MCP token last?
90 days. It is shown once when generated, and "Revoke all" cancels every token on the account.
Can the assistant spend my credits without asking?
Creating a video, film, ad or bot spends credits, and the server tells the assistant to confirm the model and the length with you first. The quote tools spend nothing, so ask for a quote before anything is made.
Can it post to my social channels?
Bots created over MCP post to the channels you connected in ReelMint on their schedule. Single videos land in your library, where the Share button publishes or schedules them.
Is the token a full account login?
No. It works only on the MCP endpoint and is refused by the rest of the API.
