How to Automate TikTok, Reels and Shorts Posting With AI: A Set-It-and-Forget-It Guide
Automate TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts posting with AI: one bot makes and posts a new video on schedule. Setup, monthly cost math and limits.
To automate TikTok, Reels and Shorts posting with AI, connect the three accounts once, then create a bot that generates a new vertical video and posts it to all of them on a schedule you set. We build ReelMint, and this is the end-to-end setup we would hand a friend: what to connect, how to configure the bot, how to work out the monthly cost before agreeing to it, and the platform limits that decide whether it keeps running.
What "set it and forget it" really means
A scheduler such as a social media calendar only posts what you already made. Full automation means the making is automated too. In Bot Studio each firing writes the idea, films it, adds music, voice and captions as the recipe says, writes a caption for each platform and publishes to every destination. You are notified for every post and every failure, and nothing happens outside the times you set.
Step 1: Connect TikTok, Instagram and YouTube
Channels, then Connections, then Connect on each platform. Each one opens the platform's own sign-in page; ReelMint receives a publishing permission, never your password. Connecting needs no subscription. Three details matter for automation:
- Instagram publishes through its API only for business or creator accounts linked to a Facebook Page. Switching is free in the Instagram app.
- Facebook and Instagram access is by invitation for now. Our Meta app is still in review, so on the Facebook or Instagram card you press Request access, we add your account as a tester, and you accept the invitation in your Facebook settings before connecting. The connection guide walks through it.
- TikTok asks you to choose a privacy level once. Every automated post rides that choice, and a bot cannot combine branded content with a private "only me" setting, because TikTok forbids it.
Facebook and X can be added to the same bot if you want them too.
Step 2: Build the bot
- Brief. Studio, then Bot Studio, then New bot. Describe the format every video follows in a few sentences. Turn on a fresh angle each firing if every post should be a new idea; it keeps the last 12 ideas as an avoid-list.
- Mode. Standalone for unrelated daily videos, series for an ongoing story with a fixed cast, song for sing-along videos, compilation to stitch earlier posts into one long video.
- Model and shape. Pick a video model from the list, each with its price, and set a 9:16 aspect ratio for vertical feeds. Choose scenes and seconds per scene; one firing can be up to 300 seconds.
- Sound. Use a model with native audio, or turn on music, which scores each video from its own scenes. Dialogue language and subtitle language are separate settings.
- Schedule. One or more times a day in your timezone, daily or on chosen weekdays, up to six firings a day per bot.
- Destinations. Tick TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. For YouTube, set the destination to Short.
Step 3: Do the monthly cost math before you save
The quote lists one firing line by line (generation, writing, soundtrack, upscale, captions) and then extrapolates. The formula is the one to keep in your head:
monthly credits = one firing × firings per day × 30
A bot that runs only on chosen weekdays is scaled honestly: three days a week is 30 × 3 ÷ 7, about 12.9 days a month, not 30. Two worked examples:
- A firing that costs 1,000 credits, once a day: 1,000 × 1 × 30 = 30,000 credits a month.
- A firing that costs 200 credits, three days a week: 200 × 30 × 3 ÷ 7 ≈ 2,570 credits a month.
For reference, a 30-second daily reel on a mid-priced model with music and upscale runs around 900 to 1,400 credits per firing, which is 27,000 to 42,000 credits a month. A short clip on a cheap model is a small fraction of that: a 10-second 720p clip on the cheaper models is 45 to 90 credits before writing and captions. Posting to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube costs nothing; an X post is 2 credits.
Plans start at Lite, $9.99 a month for 800 credits; Starter is $29 for 2,600. Every plan runs every model, and Bot Studio is on every plan. If the monthly figure is above your plan, shorten the video, pick a cheaper model, post on fewer days, or drop the upscale. The cheapest-models page lists the options.
Step 4: Run one now, then let it go
Save the bot paused if you want to judge the first video, and press "Run now": it generates and posts one video immediately, for real. When you are happy, set it active. From then on it fires on the minute, in your timezone, including across daylight-saving changes.
What keeps an automated account healthy
- Platform limits. YouTube allows an app roughly a dozen uploads a day per channel. Facebook and Instagram share a rate limit per account; when a platform pushes back, that destination pauses for a few hours and you are told.
- Expired connections. Connections are refreshed in the background before a scheduled post. If a platform ends a session, the Channels menu dot goes hollow and you get one notification to reconnect.
- Failures. A failed run posts nothing, is never charged twice, and the next slot tries again.
- The badge. On Lite and Starter, bot videos carry a small ReelMint badge. From Creator up you can switch it off per bot.
- Public reel pages. Each bot render also gets a public page on ReelMint by default; switch "share renders" off if you do not want that.
If you only want the posting automated and will make the videos yourself, skip the bot: every video in your library has a Share button that publishes or schedules it to each platform, to the minute, with its own caption. The autopilot page covers the bot side in two minutes.
Can one video go to TikTok, Reels and Shorts with different captions?
Yes. The caption writer produces a TikTok caption, an Instagram caption and a YouTube title, description and tags from the same video, each fitted to that platform's limits.
How do I know what a month of automation costs?
The quote shows it before you save: one firing, times firings per day, times 30, scaled down for bots that skip days.
Do I need a subscription to connect TikTok, Instagram and YouTube?
No. Connecting is free on any signed-in account. A plan is needed to generate and post.
Can I stop it at any time?
Yes. Pause the bot and nothing more is generated or posted. Resuming starts from the next slot and never replays missed ones.
What if a platform refuses a post?
You get a notification with the platform's own reason. Permanent errors are not retried; temporary ones are.
