How to Post AI Videos to TikTok From ReelMint: Direct Post, Inbox and Privacy
Connect TikTok once and post AI videos directly with the privacy level you pick, or send them to your TikTok inbox as drafts. Captions up to 2,200 chars.
To post AI videos to TikTok from ReelMint, connect your TikTok account once, open the video, press Share, tick TikTok, choose who can view it, and publish or schedule. With a privacy level chosen, the video is posted directly to your profile; without one, it lands in your TikTok inbox as a draft that you finish in the TikTok app.
We build ReelMint, an AI video studio that publishes to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and X. TikTok has the most specific rules about what an app may do on a creator's behalf, so this guide explains what TikTok's API allows, what the posting screen asks you, and why.
Step 1: connect TikTok
- Open Channels, then Connections, and press Connect on TikTok.
- TikTok's own sign-in and consent screen opens. Approve the permissions and you are returned with the profile listed.
ReelMint asks TikTok for three things only: your basic profile information, permission to upload videos, and permission to publish them. It does not request access to read or list the videos already on your account, so ReelMint's TikTok page shows only what ReelMint itself sent. Your password stays with TikTok; ReelMint keeps an encrypted token. TikTok access tokens last about a day, and ReelMint renews them in the background before a scheduled post. Connecting needs no subscription. See the connect-your-channels guide.
Step 2: the TikTok posting screen
TikTok's Content Sharing Guidelines require the creator, not the app, to control privacy and interaction settings. So each time you open the TikTok tab, ReelMint asks TikTok for your account's current options and builds the screen from them:
- Your account: the nickname and avatar of the TikTok profile you are posting to.
- Caption: editable, up to 2,200 characters.
- Who can view this video: only the options TikTok offers your account, such as Everyone, Friends (mutual follows), Followers, or Only me (private). There is deliberately no default; you pick one.
- Allow users to: Comment, Duet and Stitch toggles, off by default. If you disabled one of these in TikTok itself, it is greyed out with the reason.
- Disclose video content: if the video promotes something, mark it as Your brand (labelled "Promotional content") or Branded content (labelled "Paid partnership"). Branded content cannot be posted as private; the screen tells you to change the visibility or turn the disclosure off.
The Share button stays disabled until every selected TikTok destination is complete, so a half-filled post never goes out.
Direct post vs inbox (drafts)
TikTok's Content Posting API has two ways in, and ReelMint uses both:
- Direct post: the video is published to your profile with the caption and privacy level you chose. ReelMint then follows TikTok's status until the post is complete and gives you the link.
- Inbox: the video is uploaded to your TikTok inbox (drafts). You open the TikTok app, add sounds or edits if you want, and post it yourself. This happens when no privacy level was chosen, and also when TikTok refuses a direct post for that account. In that case ReelMint falls back to the inbox instead of failing, and the receipt says "inbox".
Either way the upload itself is the same. Files up to 64 MB go up in one piece; larger ones in 10 MB chunks, following TikTok's rules.
Captions that read like TikTok
The AI caption button (1 credit) writes a TikTok-style caption from the video: one or two short lines, at most about 150 characters before the hashtags, casual and direct, ending on a hook or a question, with 3 to 6 hashtags that mix one broad discovery tag with specific niche ones. Your own tags go first. Find viral hashtags (5 credits) researches tags that are working on the topic now and appends them to the TikTok caption. Whatever you write, the caption is fitted to 2,200 characters at publish, dropping whole hashtags before cutting a word, so an Arabic or emoji-heavy caption never ships a broken character.
Video limits
TikTok tells ReelMint the maximum video length your account may post, and the posting screen is built from that answer. Vertical 9:16 is the shape TikTok is built for, so pick 9:16 in Mint Studio when the model offers it. Very large renders (an 8K upscale, for example) are swapped for a 1080p H.264 copy for publishing.
Scheduling TikTok posts
Set a date and time on the TikTok tab instead of publishing now. The scheduler checks every minute, each destination has its own time, and scheduled posts are listed on the dashboard, where you can open the post to change or cancel it. If TikTok flags a post as spam risk or rate-limits the account, ReelMint pauses that TikTok destination for six hours, tells you, and lets the pause lift by itself; it never hammers the platform with retries. The scheduling guide covers the rest.
A bot that posts to TikTok daily
Bot Studio generates a new video on a schedule, writes the TikTok caption alongside the other platforms' copy and posts it. TikTok asks for a privacy level once, when you add the TikTok destination to the bot; a bot target without one posts to your inbox. See autopilot and the Bot Studio tutorial.
What it costs
Posting to TikTok costs no credits. Generating the video does, and the price is on the Generate button before you click. Plans start at Lite, $9.99 a month for 800 credits, with every AI model on every plan.
Why did my video go to my TikTok inbox instead of posting?
Either no "Who can view" option was chosen, or TikTok refused a direct post for that account and ReelMint fell back to the inbox. Open the TikTok app, find the draft and post it, or pick a privacy level next time.
Can ReelMint read my TikTok views or comments?
No. ReelMint asks only for profile basics and permission to upload and publish. It does not read your existing TikTok videos or their numbers.
Is there a default privacy setting?
No. TikTok's guidelines require the creator to choose, so the dropdown starts empty and the Share button waits until you pick.
How long can a TikTok caption be?
2,200 characters including hashtags. ReelMint's AI writes far shorter, about 150 characters before 3 to 6 tags.
