How to Face Swap Multiple Faces in One Video at Once, for the Price of One
ReelMint finds up to 8 people in a video and swaps up to 4 faces in one run. Clothes, body and motion stay; the original sound goes back on.
To face swap multiple faces in one video, open Character Swap in ReelMint, let it find the people in the clip, choose "swap the faces" and give each person you want changed a face: one of your characters or a photo from your library. Up to four people are swapped in the same run, for the same price as one, while clothes, bodies, the scene and the motion stay as they were.
We build ReelMint. Multi-person face swap is the case most tools handle badly: they swap one face per pass, so a group video is several paid passes, each painting over the last. This post explains how ours does it in one pass, step by step, with the limits.
How one run swaps several faces
Instead of one pass per person, every face you cast is tiled into a single cast sheet: one reference image with each face in its own cell. Each piece of the video is then edited once, with an instruction that names every person and their cell, for example "replace only the face of the man at the grill with face 1 (top-left on the sheet)". Because all the faces go in together, four people cost what one does, and nobody's face is painted over by a later pass.
Step 1: pick the video
Studio, then Character Swap. Choose a library video of 3 to 120 seconds and up to 50 MB. Upload it to your library first if it is on your phone.
Step 2: find the people
Press Find the people. The studio samples frames across the clip and one vision pass returns everyone it saw, ranked by how much of the video they are in, each with a crop and a short label such as "the woman in the red coat". Up to eight people are listed, marked main or side. This costs 2 credits.
Step 3: choose "swap the faces"
Character Swap has two modes at the same price. Swap the faces changes only each cast person's face and hair. Swap the whole character replaces the whole person, outfit and build included; we cover that one in a separate post. For a group clip where the clothes should stay, choose faces.
Step 4: cast up to four faces
For each person you want to change, pick a face:
- A character from your Character Studio, which keeps the same face across every video you make with it; or
- A photo from your library.
You can cast up to four of the listed people. Anyone you leave uncast stays exactly as they are. Give each cast person a different face; the instruction tells the model never to put the same face on two people.
Clear, front-facing, well-lit faces work best. A face that is half in shadow gives the model less to copy.
Step 5: pick the resolution and read the price
Choose 480p, 720p (default) or 1080p. The button shows the total in credits, and the quote is the charge. The price follows the video's length, not the number of faces: each piece is priced on its seconds plus the seconds it films, 480p is half the per-second rate of 720p, and 1080p is double. A join is added when the video has more than one piece. What credits buy lists the other prices.
Step 6: swap
- The video is cut into pieces of up to 14 seconds.
- Each piece is edited once on Wan 3.0 with the cast sheet, every face at the same time. Two pieces run at once, and a failed piece is retried once.
- The pieces are joined and the original sound is put back.
The finished video is a new post in your library, ready to download, edit or share to your channels.
What to expect, honestly
- People who overlap or swap places are the hard case. Each person is named by what they look like and where they are, so two people in identical outfits who cross paths can confuse the edit.
- Small faces in the background change less reliably than the main people.
- Long clips are pieces. A video longer than 14 seconds is edited in pieces and joined; a small shift at a join is possible.
- Use faces you have the right to use. A character you created is the safe choice, and models may refuse a recognisable real face.
When to use a different tool
To change the style of the entire video rather than faces, use video to video (how to restyle a video with a prompt). To make a single photo speak, use talking photo. The full Character Swap reference is in the help guide, and plans start at Lite, $9.99 a month for 800 credits.
Can I face swap more than one person in a video?
Yes. Up to four people in one swap, in the same run, from up to eight people the studio finds in the video.
Does a multi-face swap cost more than a single one?
No. All the faces are edited together from one cast sheet, so four faces cost the same as one. The price follows the video's length and resolution.
Do the clothes and the background change?
Not in "swap the faces" mode. Only the face and hair of each cast person change; clothes, body, scene and motion stay.
Can I use my own photo as one of the faces?
Yes. Any photo in your library can be a cast face, as can any of your characters.
Is the original audio kept?
Yes. The original sound is put back under the finished video.
