AI Video Editor: Cut Clips, Add a Voiceover and Music, Split the Screen and Export
Cut AI clips on a timeline, layer a voiceover and music, split the screen into 2 or 3 panes, and export one MP4 for 25 credits. Steps and limits.
To edit AI videos into one finished post, open Video Edit, pick a portrait, square or landscape project, drag clips, pictures and audio from your Library onto the timeline, trim and split them, layer a voiceover and a music track, and press Export. In ReelMint the export bakes everything into one new MP4 in your Library for a flat 25 credits, and your source clips are never changed.
We build ReelMint, an AI studio that generates videos, images and music and posts them to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and X. Generation gives you clips; an editor turns clips into a post. This is how ours works and what it does and does not do.
Start a project
The Video Edit projects page has three one-click format cards: Portrait (9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts), Square (1:1 for feeds) and Landscape (16:9 for YouTube). Click one and the project opens. Projects are listed and filterable as All, In progress or Exported, so you can come back to a half-finished edit.
The workspace
- Media panel on the left, with tabs for Videos, Images, Audio and Scenes. Scenes are the individual clips of a multi-scene film you made in Mint Studio, so you can recut a film shot by shot. Files dropped from your desktop upload straight into the Library.
- Canvas in the middle, with play controls and a start and end.
- Properties on the right: the project's frame, layout, cover and autosave when nothing is selected, and the clip or audio settings when something is.
- Timeline along the bottom, always on screen, with Split, Delete and a zoom slider.
Shortcuts: Space plays and pauses, S splits at the playhead, Delete removes the selection, the arrow keys step (Shift for 5 seconds), Home and End jump to the ends. Undo and redo sit in the top bar. On a phone the editor becomes one scrolling column.
Cut and arrange
- Add a video clip and trim its start and end, or split it at the playhead and delete the part you do not want.
- Add a picture and set how many seconds it holds on screen.
- Drag clips into the order the post should play.
- Mute a clip's own sound when you want a voiceover or music to play alone over it.
Add a voiceover and music
Audio goes on parallel tracks. Each new audio item lands on a new track and never replaces one that is already there, so a voiceover and a music bed play at the same time, mixed at export. Each track has its own start and end on the timeline, an offset into the audio file and a volume from 0 to 150%.
Where the audio comes from:
- A voiceover made with a built-in voice or your own cloned voice in Voice Studio. See the speech tutorial.
- A song or a soundtrack from the Music mode in Mint Studio, 15 credits a song on Suno V6. See the music tutorial.
- Your own file, uploaded to the Library.
Split screen: two or three videos at once
In the project's Layout section, choose Single, 2 panes or 3 panes, and for a split choose Side by side or Stacked. Each clip then has a Pane setting. A newly added clip fills the first empty pane, so adding a second video puts it in pane 2 without a click. Clips in one pane play one after another; the panes play together.
At export each pane is sized to its share of the frame and the panes are joined into one picture, with their sounds mixed. The film lasts as long as the longest pane; a shorter pane holds its last frame to the end. Typical uses: a reaction beside the original, a before-and-after, or three takes of the same prompt on three models.
Export
Press Export · 25 cr. The timeline is baked into one merged video: every clip is normalised to the project's frame and frame rate, the clips are joined, the audio tracks are laid over, and a thumbnail is made. The result is a new item in your Library. You can pick a frame of a clip or upload your own image as the project's cover.
The rule that matters most: the editor never modifies or deletes your source media. Removing a clip only edits the timeline; deleting a project deletes the project only. Every clip you used stays in your Library.
Post it
An export is an ordinary Library video. Open it, press Share, and publish it to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and X with a caption per platform, or schedule it for later. The video edit tutorial shows the whole edit on screen.
Is it AI that does the cutting?
No. The editor is a manual timeline: you decide the cuts. The AI is in what you put on it, meaning clips, pictures, songs and voiceovers generated in the studio, and in the Mint Studio features that assemble a multi-scene film for you.
What does an export cost?
A flat 25 credits per export, whatever the length. Plans start at $9.99 a month for 800 credits on Lite, and every plan runs every model.
Can I edit videos I did not make in ReelMint?
Yes. Upload them to the Library, or drop them on the media panel, and they appear in the Videos tab like any generated clip.
Does the editor remove the music from a clip and keep the voice?
No. A clip's own sound is either kept or muted. To clean a noisy voice recording, run it through Audio Isolation in the studio's Speech tab first and use that take.
